Upstate Small Businesses Looking For Savings

Volkswagen’s TDI Vehicles Deliver on Promise of Diesels

The recent economic downturn has forced many small businesses to think about long term savings and changes that will help them make it in a time of lessen margins.  Volkswagen’s new Clean Diesel Technology is spearheading such savings with their new TDI vehicles and is now available at Steve White, the leading Volkswagen Greenville, SC dealer.

With a couple of awards in hand as the Green Car of the Year, Greenville VW dealer Steve White is proud to announce that Volkswagen is bringing back the advantage of diesel vehicles.  For many years, diesel engines have received bad press because of their dirty exhaust, but with VW’s new Clean Diesel Technology times are changing.  Greenville, SC VW fans should know that Volkswagen is the first company to make clean diesel cars certified in all 50 states.  Their new exhaust design not only reduces the oxides of nitrogen and sulfur, but also in tandem with a turbocharger generates the kind of low-end torque that makes even race car drivers smile. The Jetta TDI delivers a 140 horsepower with 236 foot-pounds of torque.

Greenville South Carolina VW Drivers Save At The Pump With New Technology

The beauty of all this is real-world fuel economy based on AMCI-certified testing of 38city/44highway with an automatic transmission.  Volkswagen’s own TDI Truth or Dare website has drivers claiming mileage in excess of 65mpg with photo’s and logs to prove their claims.  Great mileage without the long-term thoughts about batteries and upkeep that many hybrids require is what is catching the interest of many business owners in Greenville, South Carolina.  If you add the mileage rating with the whopping 66.9 cubic feet of cargo room in the Jetta Sportswagen then you learn why many small business leaders are taking notice.

“The long term advantage of diesels is their tremendous savings, both in fuel economy and resale values, explains Jerry Shive, President of Applachian Sales Group.  The company’s four outside salesmen had been driving Chevy Trailblazers.

“Our sales force were driving on average 30,000 miles per year and with the SUV’s they were getting only about 18 miles per gallon on average,” adds Shive.  Great mileage, long-term reliability and resale values were all factors in his company’s decision to purchase three of the TDI vehicles.

“We are in the heating and air conditioning business and our entire market is striving for better efficiencies.  Going green is not only good for the environment, but also the pocketbook,” explains Shive.  He believes that the fuel savings alone will produce savings of $130 per month on each of three VW’s wagons.   There is also currently a government tax credit of $1,300 on the Jetta TDI vehicles.

Greenville SC Volkswagen Manager Explains TDI Technology

“This tax credit goes away when VW reaches a bench-mark of 60,000 sales,” explains Marc White, General Manager at Steve White VW/Audi, the leading Volkswagen dealer in Greenville, SC.

With the current sales rate the tax credit will end sometime in the coming months.  The TDI technology has given VW an added push at the end of 2009 as the company recorded six straight months of back-to back sales increases in the US.

“We have noticed a big increase in interest and sales in our TDI vehicles, especially the Jetta Sportswagens,” adds White.

With a starting price of $22,830 the Jetta TDI sedan and a little more for the Sportwagen; it is simple to see why the sales are on the fast track.  After you add in the current tax credit and the long-term advantages of diesels, you clearly understand why more and more small businesses are making the decision to go with the Volkswagen TDI technology.

Volkswagen is answering the call also as they plan more and more vehicles with the TDI technology.  They just added the 2010 Golf as their latest vehicle with the Clean Diesel Technology and rumors that their next generation mid-size sedan which will be built at their new U.S. facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee will offer a diesel version.  VW is in the midst of a major expansion of products to be introduced to the American market.  Volkswagen and their luxury brand Audi plan to add more than eight vehicles in the coming years.  Diesel vehicles will continue to be launched as more and more Americans learn of the Clean Diesel Technology.
