Introducing the all New RS5!!

There was some exciting news from the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, where the all new 2010 Audi RS5 was introduced!  The lines on the new RS5 are a classic mix of  beauty and athletic power. Like all RS Models the RS5 uses Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive to apply it’s power to the road.  Being an Audi owner myself I have learned to appreciate the Audi brand and the quality of their vehicles.

Audi which is the leading all-wheel-drive brand is unveiling their next generation differential called a crown gear differential which is a self-locking differential which not only attains a high efficiency rate but is also compact and light weight. The body is lower than that of an A5 with 19″ alloy wheels but there is also an option to upgrade to a 20″ wheel. Also has Xenon headlights which boasta sweeping strip of LED Daytime running lights. The single frame grille has a shiny charcoal-gray grid pattern and the newly designed bumper tapers downward into a splitter. Eight different paint finishes are available and the outside mirrors feature a sleek matt aluminum look. The tail end stands out with two oval exhaust pipes that have been integrated into the bumper and the spoiler in the tailgate automatically extends at a speed of about 75 mph and retracts at around 50mph. I think its safe to say the Audi RS5 is at the top of most of the classiest 2 door sport coupes available.

March Specials Announced!

We’ve got all of our March specials posted and I’m excited to tell about about some very cool deals we have running this month.

First of all, we are offering for the first time ever an across-the-board flat discount on all in-stock 2010 Audi A4 sedans.  It’s $2,200 off MSRP, and considering the popularity of the A4 and the fact that there are no rebates or other cash incentives, this is really a great deal.  Plus, you can still take advantage of current Lease and APR offers while using this discount!

We’re also continuing our “Sign and Drive” $399/month lease on the Audi A4.

For Volkswagen, we have some very hot deals, like $199/month lease on the Jetta and $6,000 off any new Routan minivan.  The Passat sedan has some very nice offers available on it, such as $359/379 per month lease and 0% extended term financing.

Click here to see our March VW specials.

For our Pre-Owned department, we have special financing rates available, like 0.9% on Certified Pre-Owned Audi A4s and 1.99% APR on Certified Pre-Loved Volkswagens.

Finally, we have a couple of unique specials running in our service department, like $100 off a Timing Belt installation and Free Mount and Balance with Purchase of a Set of Tires.

Meet our newest member to the e-team!

To all of our Steve White friends and visitors, we would like to introduce our newest member to the Internet Department, Sean McCauley! Sean, while born in Connecticut was raised here in the upstate, where he attended Mauldin High School.

Aside from his professional life, Sean is extremely active in the community, where he coaches girls High School soccer at J.L Mann. I asked Sean what he enjoys most about coaching soccer, and he explained to me that “it’s my way of giving back, I see how happy it made me growing up, and I see how happy it makes them. It’s exciting when you see your players work hard and succeed, whether it be earning scholarships to play in college, or just winning a game.”

Sean initially worked here at Steve White VW and Audi as a Porter and Computer Specialist and had always been interested in the Internet Department. His willingness to go above and beyond with the customer and his knack for technology and social media made him a great match for the job. His professional goals while here is to help develop the Internet Department using his own personality and skill sets, expand his knowledge of Internet marketing, and to have fun, after all we represent two great brands!

Upstate Small Businesses Looking For Savings

Volkswagen’s TDI Vehicles Deliver on Promise of Diesels

The recent economic downturn has forced many small businesses to think about long term savings and changes that will help them make it in a time of lessen margins.  Volkswagen’s new Clean Diesel Technology is spearheading such savings with their new TDI vehicles and is now available at Steve White, the leading Volkswagen Greenville, SC dealer.

With a couple of awards in hand as the Green Car of the Year, Greenville VW dealer Steve White is proud to announce that Volkswagen is bringing back the advantage of diesel vehicles.  For many years, diesel engines have received bad press because of their dirty exhaust, but with VW’s new Clean Diesel Technology times are changing.  Greenville, SC VW fans should know that Volkswagen is the first company to make clean diesel cars certified in all 50 states.  Their new exhaust design not only reduces the oxides of nitrogen and sulfur, but also in tandem with a turbocharger generates the kind of low-end torque that makes even race car drivers smile. The Jetta TDI delivers a 140 horsepower with 236 foot-pounds of torque.

Greenville South Carolina VW Drivers Save At The Pump With New Technology

The beauty of all this is real-world fuel economy based on AMCI-certified testing of 38city/44highway with an automatic transmission.  Volkswagen’s own TDI Truth or Dare website has drivers claiming mileage in excess of 65mpg with photo’s and logs to prove their claims.  Great mileage without the long-term thoughts about batteries and upkeep that many hybrids require is what is catching the interest of many business owners in Greenville, South Carolina.  If you add the mileage rating with the whopping 66.9 cubic feet of cargo room in the Jetta Sportswagen then you learn why many small business leaders are taking notice.

“The long term advantage of diesels is their tremendous savings, both in fuel economy and resale values, explains Jerry Shive, President of Applachian Sales Group.  The company’s four outside salesmen had been driving Chevy Trailblazers.

“Our sales force were driving on average 30,000 miles per year and with the SUV’s they were getting only about 18 miles per gallon on average,” adds Shive.  Great mileage, long-term reliability and resale values were all factors in his company’s decision to purchase three of the TDI vehicles.

“We are in the heating and air conditioning business and our entire market is striving for better efficiencies.  Going green is not only good for the environment, but also the pocketbook,” explains Shive.  He believes that the fuel savings alone will produce savings of $130 per month on each of three VW’s wagons.   There is also currently a government tax credit of $1,300 on the Jetta TDI vehicles.

Greenville SC Volkswagen Manager Explains TDI Technology

“This tax credit goes away when VW reaches a bench-mark of 60,000 sales,” explains Marc White, General Manager at Steve White VW/Audi, the leading Volkswagen dealer in Greenville, SC.

With the current sales rate the tax credit will end sometime in the coming months.  The TDI technology has given VW an added push at the end of 2009 as the company recorded six straight months of back-to back sales increases in the US.

“We have noticed a big increase in interest and sales in our TDI vehicles, especially the Jetta Sportswagens,” adds White.

With a starting price of $22,830 the Jetta TDI sedan and a little more for the Sportwagen; it is simple to see why the sales are on the fast track.  After you add in the current tax credit and the long-term advantages of diesels, you clearly understand why more and more small businesses are making the decision to go with the Volkswagen TDI technology.

Volkswagen is answering the call also as they plan more and more vehicles with the TDI technology.  They just added the 2010 Golf as their latest vehicle with the Clean Diesel Technology and rumors that their next generation mid-size sedan which will be built at their new U.S. facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee will offer a diesel version.  VW is in the midst of a major expansion of products to be introduced to the American market.  Volkswagen and their luxury brand Audi plan to add more than eight vehicles in the coming years.  Diesel vehicles will continue to be launched as more and more Americans learn of the Clean Diesel Technology.

Audi Green Police Ads

Every day consumers around the globe are faced with a myriad of decisions in their quest to become more environmentally responsible citizens.  Paper or plastic?  Bottled water or tap water?  Gas or electric?  Compost Bucket or Recycling Bin?  So many questions; yet so many conflicting answers.  It can be overwhelming.

Now consumers have help, from….

The Green Police

As part of Audi’s lead up to their third consecutive Super Bowl ad, Audi has created a fictional Green Police unit that are caricatures of today’s “green movement.”  The Green Police are a humorous group of individuals that have joined forces in an effort to collectively help guide consumers to make the right decision when it comes to the environment.

Every day, as we all embrace the Green Movement, we’re finding our way to make the right choices.  Audi is contributing with the Audi A3 TDI clean diesel, the 2010 Green Car of the Year by the Green Car Journal.  In this year’s Super Bowl commercial, “Green Car,” we reveal that now, American drivers have another green solution.  With an A3 TDI clean diesel they can feel great about being green while also enjoying a finely engineered, luxury automobile which does not sacrifice performance or leading-edge design.

Don’t forget – you can see the spot live during the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl this Sunday, February 7.

The VW Golf hits a home run with Consumer Reports

There are so many different options out there right now in the small sedan hatchback category that it’s difficult to decide which way to go? As consumers shop around, they’re considering several things such as handling and control, reliability, price…the list goes on.  Here is some good news to help make your researching a little easier!

Consumer Reports have recently announced scores for the hatchback and sedan category for their March 2010 issue. Seven hatchbacks and sedans were tested and only two scored “Excellent” in the road tests; the Golf 2.5L gas model scoring a 85 and the Golf TDI achieving an impressive 88.

The other hatchbacks and sedans tested include the Nissan Sentra which scored “Very Good,” the Suzuki Sx4 which scored ”Very Good,” The Nissan Versa “Very Good” and the Toyota Yaris “Good.”

“A nice ride, crisp handeling and solid feel, make any Golf a good choice,” said David Champion, senior director of Consumer Reports Auto Test Center.

Some might argue that despite this “Excellent” rating the Golf is at a higher price point. Consumer Reports acknowledges this but argues that “The Golf is a premium car, despite being a hatchback, and it’s relatively high price is justified. The Golf has a steady, compliant ride.”

Jetta TDI Cup ‘Street’ Edition

Racetrack Inspired Street Edition

Volkswagen kicks off the 2010 Jetta TDI Cup racing season with a special edition Jetta TDI Cup “Street” Edition. Only 2,500 of these replica race cars will be built, each equipped with the award-winning 2.0-liter clean diesel engine that produces 140 horsepower and a broad torque curve, with a road-scorching output of 236 lb.-ft. This remarkable engine makes use of an advanced electronically controlled turbocharger and common rail direct injection technology, and can be matched with either a six-speed manual transmission or the highly acclaimed DSG transmission – the same double-clutch automatic gearbox used in TDI Cup race cars.

For clean-diesel enthusiasts and fans of the racing series – now in its third season– the 2010 Jetta TDI Cup “Street” Edition is as fun to drive as it is visually appealing. With the sports-tuned chassis from the GLI and responsive turbo-diesel power, the Jetta TDI Cup Edition delivers road-hugging handling along with extraordinary fuel economy and ultra-low CO2 emissions. Think of it as a “GLI TDI” – the environmentally friendly sports sedan of the future.

Exterior and Chassis Features

In addition to “TDI Cup” graphics emblazoned along the lower bodysides of the car, the Jetta replica racer features significant chassis enhancements over the standard Jetta, such as larger disc brakes with

red calipers, a European sport-tuned suspension and sway bars from the performance-oriented Jetta GLI. High-performance all-season 18-inch tires are mounted on eye-catching “Charleston” multi-spoke alloy wheels. For an even more aggressive look that is almost identical to the TDI Cup race cars, there is an optional body kit that features sculpted side sill extensions, a rear valence panel, and unique front fascia with prominent mesh-covered lower air intakes. A wing spoiler is an additional option that completes the ready-for-racing look while contributing to improved high-speed aerodynamics. Four exterior colors are offered: Black Magic, Candy White, Salsa Red or brilliant Laser Blue (shown in photos).

Bold, Racy Colors

The Jetta TDI Cup Edition is available in four distinctive colors.

Interior Styling

Inside, the Jetta TDI Cup “Street” Edition boasts the same comfortable and supportive sport bucket seats found in the Jetta GLI, covered with iconic Interlagos plaid cloth upholstery. The leather-wrapped steering

wheel has a Piano Black lower clip and paddle shifters when equipped with the DSG transmission. Like the GLI, foot pedals have a light-alloy appearance. Door sill plates are identified with the TDI logo.

Optional equipment available on the TDI Cup Edition includes a power sunroof, navigation system and iPod integration for the audio system.

Pricing

Volkswagens are designed to offer advanced German engineering at an affordable price, and this special edition Jetta reinforces that philosophy, with pricing that starts around $25,000. Because it’s a clean-burning diesel, the Jetta TDI Cup Edition qualifies for an Advanced Lean Burn Technology Motor Vehicle Federal Income Tax Credit of $1,300. The savings will continue on the road, as the Jetta TDI boasts EPA fuel economy figures of 30 mpg city/42 mpg highway (DSG).

2010 Audi S4 Does It Right

Our Audi team has been selling new and pre-owned Audis at a rapid pace, which unfortunately has left our inventory of some models like the Audi Q5 a little bit depleted.  The Q5 is my choice of all-around vehicles on the lot to drive, but I soon became the driver of our only Q5 in stock with the Navigation system, so I knew it was time to hand my ride back to the sales team.

So, it became necessary to find an alternate Audi vehicle to drive.  With a 8-month old baby at home, I wasn’t sure anything in the 2-door genre was going to be wife-approved, but I still wanted something fun to drive.  I went with the new 2010 Audi S4.

This all-new S4 is packing a 3.0 liter Supercharged V6, a-la the two-generations-ago S4, which also was sold with V6 that was not naturally aspirated.  This new powertrain achieves an impressive 28 mpg Highway while running with 333 hp at just 5,500 RPM.  Wow!

I have to tell you — this S4 is a bundle of fun to drive.  I chose a Brilliant Black model with the 7-speed S-Tronic (aka DSG dual-clutch rapid-fire shifting) transmission.  The sweet sound of that  V6 exhaust note and the S-Tronic transmission – with the “blip” sound made with each lighting quick up or down shift — makes for a wonderful commute or Sunday afternoon drive through our mountains here in the Upstate.

The S4 I am driving came equipped with the latest generation of Audi’s wonderful MMI-system that features 3D Navigation and also the optional Bang & Olufsen sound system, which will transfer the output on your iPod into a mini concert hall.

If you haven’t test-driven one yet, you should.  I’d be happy to loan you mine, if only to witness the ear-to-ear grin you’re likely to return with after spending some time with the new 2010 Audi S4.

The BEAUTIFUL New Jetta Compact Coupe Concept – Coming la…

Things are growing, changing, and improving at Volkswagen. It’s going to be impossible slow down VW’s growth with innovation at this level!

Volkswagen has unveiled it’s New Compact Coupe (NCC) and New Compact Sedan (NSC) concepts and has set a release for late summer of this year!

As you can see from the pictures here of the New Compact Coupe (and more at the bottom of this post) this is really a beautiful car, and I can’t wait to see it on the showroom of Steve White Volkswagen! The lines from the rear remind me a lot of an Audi A4, but the overall design is truly evolutionary. You can see the new grill (with less chrome) being integrated in this model, the evolution of the interior styling, and of course the large VW badge.

From the official Volkswagen press release:

Wolfsburg / Detroit, January 2010. For Volkswagen this marks the beginning of an action-packed year, in which more new models will be introduced than ever before in the company’s history. Number 1 on the spectacular list of new products for calendar year 2010 is a car based on entirely new concepts and technology, a coupe with a hybrid drive that is extremely fast and yet futuristic in its fuel economy. It has sports appeal and sharp styling yet is remarkably elegant – positioned between the Europe’s bestselling sports car, the Scirocco, and the internationally successful CC. Its name: the New Compact Coupe. Site of its world premiere: Detroit, North American International Auto Show (January 11 to 24). Combined fuel consumption: 4.2 l/100 km* (45 mpg**)! CO2 emissions: 98 g/km! Incredible, considering its fuel economy, are its top speed of 227 km/h (141 mph) and the short 8.6 seconds it needs for the classic sprint to 100 km/h (0-60 mph in 8.1 seconds).

These values were made technically feasible by a high-tech alliance: a TSI engine (gasoline powered with 110 kW / 150 PS) that is as fuel efficient as it is sporty, an electric motor (20 kW / 27 PS) and a 7-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) − which in the eyes of many car drivers is the best automatic in the world today. Just over a month after the debut of the most fuel-efficient four-seater in the world – the Up! Lite in Los Angeles – this new concept car confirms once again that future Volkswagen hybrid vehicles will not only focus on fuel economy, but – similar to pure gasoline and diesel versions of Europe’s most successful auto¬mobile brand – will also aim to be sporty and fun to drive. In the first half of the year, Volkswagen will launch its first hybrid model on the market under the VW label – an SUV with full-time all-wheel drive. Meanwhile, the New Compact Coupe shows, both technically and visually, how Volkswagen envisions a front-wheel drive hybrid for the compact class that would be implemented when the time is right.

As mentioned in the press release, with the redesign of the Jetta at the end of this year, the Beetle next year, and the new mid-size sedan in 2012, you will be seeing a lot of changes at Volkswagen. And Steve White VW will be here to bring you the latest news, and the best inventory of all these cars as they arrive.

Be sure and stay on our update list so you don’t miss the action by entering just your email address in the form at the top right. Or leave a comment below, and we’ll add you to it.

And, we’d love to hear what you think! Add your comments below!

New VW Concept is Electric!

Volkswagen has pioneered clean diesel technology, but now the brand is ready to embrace a new concept, an electric hybrid car that packs more power than it’s rivals the Toyota Prius and Honda Insight! This new idea, which was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show comes with 177 hp, a direct injection turbocharged motor, and a sexy exterior that will satisfy the biggest of car fans.
